Jürgen Greubel

After studying industrial design at Wiesbaden Senior Technical College, Jürgen Greubel was between 1967 and 1973 part of the legendary design department at the Braun company in Kronberg. Under Dieter Rams, he was involved in numerous leading design developments for that company. In 1973 he moved to the Design Research Unit in London, where until 1975 he worked among other things on design projects for London Transport. Since 1976 Jürgen Greubel has been a freelance designer for a wide range of clients (among which Braun) and is involved on the design side in various product categories.

He has designed products in the fields of personal hygiene and household appliances, among which grills and fan heaters. He was also involved in the development of the Lectron teaching system.

At Braun he has among other things consistently set standards with the MP50 multipress, the MPZ2 citrus press, the DS1 can opener and the HLD6/61 hair dryer and stood all in all for establishing softer lines in the company’s product design.

For VS Jürgen Greubel has as a design partner overseen significant product developments in the field of office-furniture systems.

Axis 360° with its innovative expansion concept was designed as a particularly adaptable and varied office-furniture system. Axis 360° can be expanded in direct links and is thus highly variable. Thanks to its patented connection technology, the system is extremely versatile and able to resolve masterfully even the most demanding requirements of workplace layout.

The NetWork office-furniture system impresses with its clear and minimal use of forms. The basis of the system is a four-legged table with all-round frame. The most varied table solutions can be realised with NetWork, where the system in every configuration exhibits straightness and design concentration.
