Conserving natural resources.

A company with an exemplary environmental balance sheet.

A crucial criterion for developing durable VS furniture is not only satisfying the highest quality and ergonomics requirements but also taking into account environment-related considerations.

Conserving natural resources: with this approach acting as our guiding principle, we consider the entire raw-material and product cycle – from the incoming materials, through processing and handling up to the delivery of the furniture to the customer. Our claim is to take into consideration as far as possible ecological matters from product development right through to recycling.

In order to ensure this comprehensively, we have established an environment-management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2009 in our management structure and in all operative processes. Through this internationally binding standard, possible instances of ecological damage are recorded in detail and the company’s environmental situation is – under regular neutral inspection – continuously improved on the basis of facts obtained.

Environmentally sensitive furniture production begins with the choice of wood. And stretches to the intelligent utilisation of energy by our own wood-firing system and the solar installation on the factory sheds. VS processes wood from sustainable forests. Water lacquers are used to paint the wood – not only an ecological plus point but also the basis for showing off wood as a natural material to advantage without restriction.

Cycle also means that at VS leftover wood serves as a raw material for a quality product: chips and shavings of beechwood amassed during the manufacture of furniture form the starting product for the superior-quality LIGNOdur school-table tops.

Even tubular steel is comprehensively recycled at VS. We have developed a far-reaching recycling concept which collects products for which there is no further use and returns the steel constituents to the material cycle.

LuPo school chairs are equipped with a seat shell which offers a particularly pleasant air-cushion effect. The seat and backrest are made from double-walled polypropylene – a material which is not only highly hard-wearing and scratch-resistant but also particularly friendly to the environment. The chairs can be easily recycled.

Mature product development with permanently valid design and long-lasting product quality are particularly geared towards consistent conservation of resources.
