Flexible room utilisation

Outdoor-clothing storage.

The furniture in modern schools must also provide a convincing answer to functional questions such as hanging up outdoor clothing and schoolbags. VS offers Series 600 outdoor-clothing and schoolbag elements for this purpose.

The switch from outdoors to indoors can be organised with the combined outdoor-clothing/shoe cupboards. Coats can be hung up in the outdoor-clothing compartment; shoe compartments are available when changing from shoes into slippers (primarily in junior-school areas).

The pupils can stow their bags in schoolbag cupboards during lessons or, for example, when free-time activities or quiet breaks are scheduled in the afternoon. The Series 600 elements are also fitted with castors. Thus, room partitioning is no longer static but instead highly mobile. If the utilisation of the room is altered, outdoor-clothing and schoolbag elements can be positioned exactly where they are needed or where they will not get in the way of school activities.

Soft seating in school: relaxing corners and quiet zones

Modern schools need to switch between work and rest periods. The seating corner is the area where the children can read comfortably and quietly or where they can watch television or listen to music together. The furnishings involved: cubes and other seating elements, which create a relaxed atmosphere to enable the children to occupy themselves restfully – or simply to do nothing.

The Series 600 TV module is a mobile and flexible terminal for entertainment electronics; it is equipped with a lockable TV compartment, can be operated via the integrated mains-system connection, but can also house further entertainment-electronics systems. Headphones make it possible to use the module separately. The module is open to different age groups – and is swiftly transformed, for example, from a TV centre into a disco point supplying a room with music.

Room partitioning and room organisation

For free-time activities, it is necessary to create partitioned-off zones with the aid of furniture. Series 2000 mobile screens are used for this purpose. Series 600 cupboard or shelf elements can also be integrated in these partitions. They provide the necessary space for storing, for example, games, toys or work materials.

Such room organisation can be used to define different territories. Optimised acoustic surfaces on the partitions absorb sound in the room and facilitate problem-free side-by-side activities.

The mobile NetWork tables in various basic shapes are put together to suit the playtime situation – and regrouped again. If more space is required, the tables are simply pushed up against the wall. The cantilevered chairs are then stacked next to the tables.

Handicrafts and drawing: mobile cupboard elements

The mobile material cabinet: Series 600 cupboard elements provide optimum support to supervised free-time activities such as handicrafts or drawing. These elements are mobile and can simply be pushed as required from room to room or from activity zone to activity zone. In this way, they are always in the middle of the action.

However, they also provide above all maximum functionality. The lower section of the cupboard is organised into seven large drawers for storing paper or cardboard of different formats flat. The upper section of the cabinet, which has lockable doors, is equipped with storage compartments in which plastic trays (for pens, paints or handicraft utensils) can also be placed.

The workshop: Series 600 workshop trolley

Mobile workshop: the Series 600 workshop trolley not only stores tools and utensils safely and securely. It is also highly mobile and therefore swiftly deployed wherever work is being carried out.

In other words: the mobile workshop can be centrally stored and maintained – as a workshop on castors, however, it can also be integrated quickly into teamwork, free-time activities or lessons. Plastic inserts are available in various heights to cover all storage requirements.

Mobile storage for boxes from LEGO Educational Division

VS has developed Series 600 cupboards which are optimally matched to the use of teaching materials of the LEGO Educational Division and store these materials safely and securely. The sturdy boxes for the LEGO pupil sets are stackable and fitted with side guides. These enable them to be housed safely and securely in the Series 600 Store.

The two VS cupboards are used to store and transport LEGO pupil sets. In addition to the storage facilities for the sets, the tall cupboard also offers separate compartments for individual LEGO models which are still being worked on.

Series 600 Stores are mounted on sturdy castors and are thus mobile to meet the demands of modern teaching. They therefore accompany the pupils easily for project-orientated working and learning. And when they are not being used, the cupboards can be closed off with the LEGO materials and pushed to wherever space is available.

Homework and undisturbed working: Series 2000 for protected zones

Intensive working calls for protected zones. Series 2000 screens can be used to partition off such zones with view protection and to define different functional areas. Integrated castors make the screens highly flexible; their setup can be quickly adapted to new situations. Particularly effective: positioning the screens in zigzag form to create undisturbed working niches.

The mobile schools of today no longer have rooms which have a specific use which has been determined once and for all. Instead, the requirement now is to make many different activities possible next to and after each other by means of furniture which is both flexible and functional – like the Series 2000 screens. When they are not being used, they can be folded up and simply moved to one side.
